Ball Hockey League: Frontier & ACT Win
The PCC Hockey Rink was the scene of two Bermuda ball hockey winter league matches, with both games decided by a single goal, and one even requiring a shootout to determine the winner.
Frontier 4 Hamilton Princess 3
In the opening match, Frontier edged out the Hamilton Princess 4-3, with Chris Grantier scoring the decisive goal in the shootout.
The first period ended in a 1-1 tie. Richard Campbell gave Hamilton Princess the early lead, but Chris Jackson quickly responded for Frontier to level the score.
Hamilton Princess then took a 2-1 lead when Mathew Benson found the back of the net, and Riley Latour extended their advantage. Johny Talbot pulled a goal back for Frontier, making it 3-2.
Tom Duggan scored the only goal of the third period for Frontier, tying the game at 3-3 and sending it to a shootout, where Grantier sealed the victory for Frontier.
Positive Image Dental 4 ACT 5
The nightcap was another closely contested affair, with ACT edging Positive Image Dental 5-4.
Positive Image Dental took an early 1-0 lead through Alex Larouche, and Nathan Kowalski doubled their advantage. ACT pulled a goal back through John King, and Colin Long then levelled the score at 2-2.
ACT took control in the second period, with goals from Townie Jackson and Adam Mattatall giving them a 4-2 lead. Andrew Leavy scored for Positive Image Dental to reduce the deficit, and Sam Viera then equalised to make it 4-4.
The third period saw only one goal, and it proved to be the winner. Mike Travis scored for ACT, securing a narrow 5-4 victory for his team.
