College Library Holding Number Of Events
The Bermuda College Library is hosting a range of events through its winter term, including a Waffle Wednesday event, high school tours, and a community conversation event.
A spokesperson said, “Our current theme for the winter term is ‘Hygge,’ the Danish custom emphasizing spending informal time together with friends and family. As part of our Hygge theme, on January 22nd we hosted Waffle Wednesday for the college, providing students and faculty with breakfast in the library. Dr. Sam, the college president, joined us to serve food to the students. We also hosted students from Gilbert Institute; P5 and P6 came to enjoy Waffle Wednesday.
“This week, we had six high schools coming for tours. They’ll be learning about academic libraries, including technical skills such as citations, mind mapping, and an introduction to database research, as well as digital skills such as video editing, animation, and the impact of social media algorithms.
“On February 11th, we will be hosting a free community event – Progress & Possibilities: A Community Conversation. This will be an evening of dialogue and discovery to discuss the issues that matter most to us as a community. From healthcare to crime, education to employment, this interactive event offers Bermudians an opportunity to share our thoughts, listen to others, and explore paths forward.
“Small group, roundtable discussions will be hosted by BC and community experts. Admission is free, but we only have limited spots so registration is open for the public right now online.
“Any questions about our upcoming events can be directed to bclibrary@college.bm.”
