The Department of Public Transportation announced a “new trial bus route that will include Gates Fort at the easternmost tip of the island, along Cut Road, overlooking the entrance to St. George’s Harbour.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The trial will be an addition to an existing route and will operate every weekday from Monday, February 10, 2025, to Friday, February 28, 2025. The Route 6 bus, which departs from St. Davids at 1:40 p.m., will extend its journey along Cut Road to Gates Fort before arriving at the St. George’s depot at approximately 2:20 p.m.

“Passengers boarding the bus between Gate’s Fort and the St. George’s depot will have to disembark and transfer to one of the following buses to continue their journey: Route 11 Hamilton bus at 2:30 pm or 2:45 pm, or the Route 10 Hamilton bus at 3:15 pm.”

Minister of Transport, Wayne Furbert explained, “This three-week trial, initiated in response to valuable feedback from the community, aims to assess the demand and viability of this new route. The trial period will be closely monitored, and based on ridership and overall viability, the new route may be added permanently to the regular schedule.”

A Government spokesperson added, “For more information, please contact the Department of Public Transportation at 292-3851.”

Great , does this mean that they new bus route schedule has been agreed to by the ministry , drivers and unions and is ready to roll out? What are we on now, year 18 now of waiting for this new schedule to be released!

    PLP are desperate!!!

  4. Questions says:

Aren’t buses larger than they were when they used to go down there many years ago? With the increasing size of cars on the roads, how much space would one have to pass? My suggestion would have public transportation mini buses to do those short and narrow routes.
