BVA Teams Compete in Boston Tournament

The Bermuda Volleyball Association is sending two teams to Boston, Massachusetts, for the second weekend of the Nike Boston Volleyball Festival at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Volleyball Association is pleased to announce that we have 2 teams travelling to Boston, Massachusetts today for the second weekend of the Nike Boston Volleyball Festival. The tournament takes place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

“The teams will play February 21st, 22nd and 23rd.”

Coach for the U18 Boys team from Andrew Soares [head of the boys program] said, “The boys U18 volleyball squad will play in the Boston Volleyball Festival starting Friday, February the 21st and running through the weekend with final games played on Sunday the 23rd”.

“The U18 squad is the most experienced team the boys Junior program has ever sent overseas. The athletes have been part of the volleyball program for a minimum of four years per player. As a result the expectations are extremely high.

“The U18 team did extremely well this winter in the local men’s league and are taking that experience and knowledge to Boston. With their sights set firmly on playing deep into Sunday and ranking in the top ten out of fifty teams in their division.”

A spokesperson added, “The BVA is very excited to see how these seniors from our program perform this weekend. This is a very talented group of young men and women and look forward to seeing how they perform. The boys team will start tomorrow morning with their first match at 10:15am [Bermuda time] and the girls team starts at 4:15 pm [Bermuda time]. Good luck to all!”
