BVA To Send 6 Teams To Nike Boston Festival

The Bermuda Volleyball Association is sending six teams to compete in the Nike Boston Volleyball Festival from February 7–9.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Volleyball Association is pleased to announce that we have six teams traveling to Boston, Massachusetts, this weekend for the Nike Boston Volleyball Festival. The tournament takes place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

“The girls’ teams will compete under the club’s name Paradise Hitters [PH], and the boys will compete under the club’s name Big Wave Riders [BWR].

“The teams will play on February 7th, 8th, and 9th. These teams leave tomorrow, February 6th, to compete in the three-day tournament.”

Paradise Hitters U12:

12 team coach Kamryn Martins said, “We are excited for our U12 Paradise Hitters volleyball team to travel to Boston for their upcoming tournament, marking an exciting opportunity for the group to showcase their growing skills outside of Bermuda.

“This year, five of our girls will be returning to compete, having gained valuable experience from traveling to last year’s tournament. We’re excited to see how they’ve grown and to watch them lead the way for the rest of the team, many of whom are traveling to an overseas tournament for the first time.

“The Boston tournament promises to deliver a high level of competition for this talented young group. This experience is not only important for volleyball development but also for team bonding and personal growth.

“The team’s participation in this tournament serves as an incredible milestone for these young athletes, providing them with memories and lessons that will fuel their passion for the sport in the years to come. This tournament is about more than just volleyball; it is about the experience, the friendships, and the confidence these girls will gain from stepping outside their comfort zones and competing on a larger stage. We couldn’t be more proud of them.”

U16 team coach Cailey Longworth said, “The U16 girls are eager to compete in this tournament and put their hard work from this season to the test. With many younger players on the team, this experience is all about growth—giving them the opportunity to play against stronger, more competitive teams and challenge themselves at a higher level. While we hope to perform well, our main focus is on development, learning from each game, and building confidence on the court. I’m excited to see how the team rises to the occasion and how their skills translate into real-game situations.”

U16 team coach Ben Barnett said, “The U16 boys have made significant progress this year and are ready to face some stiff competition in Boston. For many of the players, this is their first season playing on a men’s height net, and they have risen to the challenge, consistently improving their game over the last four months. I am extremely proud of my players’ development, and I know the boys are ready to give their all on the court!”

The spokesperson said, “The BVA is very proud of its youth program and looks forward to the experiences the teams and the athletes themselves will come away with.
