Holy Trinity To Hold Spring Sale Tomorrow
Holy Trinity Church will hold its annual Spring Sale event tomorrow [Feb 15]
A spokesperson said, “‘Well, Valentine’s Day is ‘the birds’ wedding day,’ after all, and the bluebirds, yellow birds, and redbirds around us are all busy collecting material to feather their nests and stocking up on goodies to keep up their energy.
“Another annual pastime in Bermuda this month is Holy Trinity Church’s Spring Sale, fast approaching this Saturday, 15th February. Not for the birds, but for the good folk of Hamilton Parish and all stations east and west.”
Churchwarden Rosie Cross said, “There’ll be dozens of Bermuda roses and other seedling flowers ready now to plant out” said Dr Walwyn Hughes, who will be among the expert growers on hand to advise. The great variety of baked goods will be scrumptious as always and there’ll be delicious hot and cold snacks and drinks available from the kitchen.”
Jam maker Lorraine Lindo said, “We have preserves galore: guava jelly, loquat chutney, hot pepper jelly, Bermuda peach jam, cherry jam, sweet as well as sour orange marmalade, and sherry peppers.”
The spokesperson said, “For months now, donations of household goods, appliances and decorations, with sports paraphernalia and many other practical pieces of equipment, have been assembled by sale organiser Mary Kay Terceira.”
Canon John Stow said, “All of the many beautiful, tasty, useful and unusual items are available on the basis of while stocks last, so be among the early birds this Saturday. Spring is sprung, the grass is riz. I wonder where the birdies is? They’ve flocked to the annual Spring Sale, knowing there they’ll have a whizz.”
Churchwarden Carol Correia – who, with her team, has been selling tickets since November in all weathers – said, “Our raffle prizes, all thirty-five of them generously donated by individuals and businesses, are worth amounts from $50 to $1,200.”
The spokesperson said, “The Spring Sale is from 9.00am to 2.00pm on 15th February at Holy Trinity’s Social Hall on Trinity Church Road, Bailey’s Bay, by the edge of Harrington Sound. The raffle draw is at 1.00pm.”
