Denton Hurdle Memorial Game Set For Sunday
Teachers Rugby Football Club [TRFC] will play the Best of the Rest in the Annual Denton Hurdle Memorial Day at the North Field, National Sports Centre, on Sunday [February 9].
Denton Hurdle was a keen sportsman who attended Warwick Academy, Bermuda College and Dalhousie University.
After completing his physical education degree, he went on to teach at Warwick Academy.
He was an avid sportsman and excelled in football, cricket and volleyball.
His first love, however, was rugby. He went on to captain TRFC and was a regular member of the Bermuda national team.
The event will also honour other former TRFC players.
“Denton was a true athlete—excelling in rugby, cricket, soccer, and volleyball—and an inspiring PE teacher at Warwick Academy and part of the congregation of the Bright Temple Church,” read a TRFC social media post.
“His passion for sport and community lives on through this memorial match, where TRFC takes on the best of the BRFU—the Rest team.
“All are welcome to join in and celebrate this legacy!”
The event will also feature at church service at Bright Temple A.M.E at 9.30am, breakfast at The Docksider Pub at 11.30am, the Memorial Games at the NSC at 1.30pm, a ladies’ touch rugby game at 1.30pm, a men’s contact game at 3pm, and a post-match presentation and dinner at Docksider at 4.30pm.
