OUTBermuda Releases Policy Manifesto
OUTBermuda has released a Policy Manifesto, a “comprehensive document outlining clear policy recommendations to advance equality and inclusion for Bermuda’s LGBTQ+ community.”
A spokesperson said, “The manifesto comes at a pivotal time as the island prepares for its upcoming general election, providing a roadmap for candidates and policymakers to address key issues affecting LGBTQ+ Bermudians.
“The manifesto highlights actionable recommendations in critical areas such as education, healthcare, and legal reform, underscoring the belief that an equitable Bermuda benefits everyone. The document also serves as an advocacy tool for LGBTQ+ Bermudians and allies to challenge candidates and demand meaningful commitments during the election season.”
“This manifesto is more than a list of recommendations—it is a call to action,” said Joshua Samuels, OUTBermuda’s Executive Director. “By addressing systemic inequities, we can ensure Bermuda becomes a place where everyone can thrive openly, safely, and with dignity. This vision is not just for LGBTQ+ people; it’s about building a stronger and more united Bermuda for all of us.”
Taj Donville-Outerbridge, Deputy Chair and Advocacy Lead at OUTBermuda, emphasized the significance of engaging the community and political leaders to bring these recommendations to life. Mr Donville-Outerbridge says, “For the first time, Bermuda’s LGBTQ+ community has a multi-issue policy manifesto to unite behind. And our leaders now have a roadmap to creating a truly fairer Bermuda, especially for our queer youth— who deserve to grow up safe, valued, and free. To all the candidates, I say the floor is yours. Reach out and let’s work together!”
The spokesperson said, “As part of its advocacy efforts, OUTBermuda is inviting all political candidates and parties to meet with members of the LGBTQ+ community to discuss the manifesto in detail and better understand its implications. These conversations aim to ensure that candidates are informed and prepared to champion policies that promote fairness and inclusion.”
For LGBTQ+ voters and allies, the manifesto serves as a powerful resource to question candidates and hold them accountable. “Change doesn’t happen by waiting—it happens when we come together, use our voices, and demand action,” says OUTBermuda Chair, Buddy Fleming.
The spokesperson said, “The Policy Manifesto is available for download on OUTBermuda’s website at www.OUTBermuda.org/policy-manifesto.”

A “manifesto,” hmmmm. Sounds pretty bossy to me.
Can anyone please tell me how many candidates OUTBermuda fielded for the election? Does any candidate running from any party belong to OUTBermuda?
That’s what being a pressure group is about. Id expect Age Concern or CURB to have their own wishlist to the candidates/parties. Or BEST. Or SCARS. Et cetera.
Will have a read – looking forward to it!
