The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] invites the public to a free open house on Saturday [March 22] to celebrate World Water Day.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] invites the public to celebrate World Water Day with us at a free open house on Saturday March 22nd. All are welcome to join the fun and activities from 11am to 3pm. This year’s World Water Day theme, ‘Save Our Glaciers’, highlights the importance of glacier preservation and protecting Earth’s frozen water resources for the future.
“Visitors of all ages are encouraged to participate in a variety of fun and educational activities. Children and adults can dive into water-themed science experiments and make a splash in the sensory play stations. Guests are also invited to explore their artistic abilities by participating in creative crafts and captivating poetry activities and explore the fabulous offerings throughout BUEI’s Ocean Discovery Centre. There’s something for everyone and the best part is that it’s all free!
“World Water Day is a global celebration that highlights the importance of water and raises awareness about the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. This day encourages everyone to take action to address the global water crisis and supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
Key messages for World Water Day 2025
- Glaciers are melting faster than ever. As the planet gets hotter due to climate change, our frozen world is shrinking, making the water cycle more unpredictable and extreme.
- Glacial retreat threatens[?] devastation. For billions of people, meltwater flows are changing, causing floods, droughts, landslides and sea level rise, and damaging ecosystems.
- Glacier preservation is a survival strategy. We must work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and manage meltwater more sustainably for people and the planet.
