Ministry: Scaur Hill Road Works Completed
The Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced the “completion of the Scaur Hill safety enhancement project on Somerset Road, Sandys,” noting it was “on budget and schedule” and the “area has fully reopened to regular traffic.”
A Government spokesperson said, “Since 30 September 2024, a two-way alternative traffic system has been in place to facilitate construction, including rebuilding a 230-foot retaining wall. With the project’s successful completion, these temporary traffic measures have ended.

“Motorists are advised that all detour routes, including the one-way system on the nearby Railway Trail, are no longer in effect. Traffic should now resume using Somerset Road as the primary route.
“All signs and road markings associated with the detour routes will be removed in the coming weeks, and the process is expected to be completed within the next month.
“Additionally, regular bus services have resumed in the area. The bus stops on Middle Road and Somerset Road have been reopened, while the temporary bus stop on the Railway Trail near Wingood Way has been closed.
“Commuters can now use the regular eastbound bus stops near Bluebird Lane and Ledgelets Lane, which are fully operational effective immediately.
“The Ministry thanks motorists and area residents, especially those who temporarily allowed the Ministry to use their properties for this project, for their cooperation and patience.”
