Seven Honoured For Hospitality Training
Seven Bermudians — Zayh Scott-Burgess, Unique Dillas, K’Shay Tucker, Kharizmah Daniels, Jordan Kennedy-Swan, Amiyah Anderson, and Alshea White — successfully completed the Department of Workforce Development’s four-week Learning Through Experience Hospitality Programme.
A Government spokesperson said, “Seven Bermudians successfully completed the Department of Workforce Development’s four-week Learning Through Experience Hospitality Programme and were honoured at a special reception held on Friday, 21 March, at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
“This bespoke initiative, developed in partnership with key industry stakeholders, offers Bermudians an exceptional opportunity to gain work readiness training and hands-on experience in the hospitality sector. Designed with industry experts, the programme equipped participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as Front Desk or Room Attendant Specialists.
“Over four weeks in February 2025, participants engaged in classroom learning, local and international online courses, and an in-person practicum with participating industry partners. This immersive experience gave them the tools to thrive in Bermuda’s dynamic hospitality industry, potentially launching new career paths.

Minister of Economy and Labour Jason Hayward commended the participants, stating, “This programme reflects the Government’s commitment to equipping Bermudians with the skills and training necessary to thrive in our hospitality industry. Through collaboration with industry partners, we can ensure participants gain invaluable experience and practical knowledge that will serve as a strong foundation for their careers. I applaud each graduate for their dedication and hard work, and I look forward to seeing their contributions to Bermuda’s vibrant tourism sector.”
Minister Hayward further emphasized the initiative’s broader impact: “This moment is not just about celebrating individual success—but also about investing in Bermuda’s future and strengthening our workforce. The hospitality industry remains a cornerstone of Bermuda’s economy, and the Government remains committed to ensuring that Bermudians have every opportunity to excel in their home country.”
Tim Morrison, General Manager of Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, expressed his enthusiasm for the program’s success, stating, “At Hamilton Princess, we believe in fostering talent, cultivating passion, and creating pathways for career growth. This belief is exactly why we are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of these participants and the invaluable partnership with the Department of Workforce Development. He also highlighted the direct impact of the program, proudly announcing that participant K’Shay Tucker would be joining Hamilton Princess full-time as a Social Hostess in their food and beverage division, a testament to the program’s ability to open doors for Bermudians in the industry.

The old hotel and catering programme was a 2 year course and it turned out Bermudians who could work anywhere in the world
Congrats to the group. If we did not have such a course there would be lots of questions. We can only hope they have good people behind them. No doubt, numbers will increase and we need to see more boys. When South P opens, I hope Joe doesn’t cry asking for Bermudians. This is a good start and I hope they stay in the industry.
