Ball Hockey League: Appleby Defeat ACT

The Bermuda ball hockey winter league playoffs commenced at the PCC Hockey Rink, with Appleby defeating ACT 4-3 in the opening contest. Appleby’s victory gives them a 1-0 lead in the playoff series.

ACT scored first in the opening period with a goal by Adam Mattatall at 1-0. Appleby responded when Chris Merritt scored to tie the game 1-1.

In the second period, Merritt scored again, giving Appleby a 2-1 advantage. ACT then scored twice, with goals from Chris Cairns and Theo Caimassidis, reclaiming the lead at 3-2.

The third period saw Merritt complete a hat trick, leveling the score at 3-3. Nathan Ische then scored the game-winning goal for Appleby, resulting in the 4-3 final score and their series lead.
