Ball Hockey: Hamilton, ACT & BDA Spirits Win
The Bermuda ball hockey winter league playoffs continued at the PCC Hockey Rink with closely contested matches.
Hamilton Princess 3, Positive Image Dental 2
Hamilton Princess moved closer to the next round of the playoffs with a narrow 3-2 victory over Positive Image Dental, establishing a 2-0 series lead.
Ronnie Dzurus scored first for Positive Image Dental in the opening period. Hamilton Princess responded with a goal from John Portelli to tie the score at 1-1, followed by Riley Latour putting them ahead 2-1.
Brett Williamson equalized for Positive Image Dental in the second period, setting up a tense final period. Kevin Albrech scored the decisive goal for Hamilton Princess in the third period, securing the win.
ACT 2, Appleby 1
ACT rallied from a one-goal deficit to defeat Appleby 2-1, leveling their best-of-three series at 1-1. Appleby took the lead in the first period with a goal from Rob Osborne.
Mike Travis scored for ACT in the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Travis then scored the winning goal in the third period, forcing a deciding game in the series.
BDA Spirits 4, Frontier 3
BDA Spirits edged out Frontier 4-3 in a dramatic overtime victory, tying their series at 1-1.
BDA Spirits took an early 3-0 lead in the first period with two goals from Sean McNulty and one from Brett Sherriffs. The second period remained scoreless. Frontier mounted a comeback in the third period with two goals from Tom Duggan and one from Chris Jackson, tying the game at 3-3 and sending it to overtime. Robbie Bailey scored the winning goal for BDA Spirits in the extra period.
