China’s ‘Bermuda Storm’ Ride Wins Award
The Bermuda-named ride “Bermuda Storm” at China’s Chimelong Spaceship theme park has won a 2025 Inavation Award for its cutting-edge immersive technology and audiovisual experience.
The attraction, situated within the Chimelong Spaceship indoor theme park in Zhuhai, won in the Arts & Experience category at the 2025 Inavation Awards.
Chimelong Spaceship, the indoor park that houses the ride, is considered the world’s largest of its kind, having opened its doors earlier in 2023.
The “Bermuda Storm” stands out as the world’s largest motion simulator attraction, capable of accommodating up to 304 guests on a single motion-based platform, a feat recognized by Guinness World Records. Riders embark on a simulated sea adventure that takes a dramatic turn when their ship is caught in a fierce storm and attacked by a mythical sea monster. This immersive journey is brought to life through a combination of cutting-edge technology and elaborate theming.
A key feature of the ride is its massive curved projection screen, measuring an impressive 1,682 square meters, ranking it among the largest in the world. High-powered 4K projectors deliver stunning visuals across this expansive canvas, enveloping the audience in a panoramic view of the unfolding storm. Complementing the visuals is a dynamic motion platform that moves in synchronization with the on-screen action, creating a realistic sensation of being aboard a ship battling turbulent seas.
Special effects, including wind, mist, water splashes, animatronics, and holographic displays, are seamlessly integrated into the ride to heighten the sense of realism and engagement.
