Four Bermuda Swimmers In Carifta Finals
Four Bermudian swimmers have qualified for finals on the last day of pool competition at the Carifta Aquatics Championship being held at the National Aquatic Centre Couva. Their performances during the morning preliminaries have positioned them for potential medal finishes.
Katherine Wheddon, the reigning Junior Female Athlete of the Year, achieved the fastest qualifying time in the preliminaries of the 15-17 girls 400 LC meter Freestyle with a personal best of 4 minutes 42.94 seconds. Marleigh Howes also qualified for the same final, securing the fourth-fastest spot with a personal best time of 4 minutes 46.64 seconds.
Connor Hupman will represent Bermuda in the final of the 15-17 boys 400 LC meter freestyle after recording the second-fastest qualifying time of 4 minutes 18.04 seconds, also a new personal best.
Sylvia Lim has qualified for the 11-12 girls 200 LC meter backstroke final, finishing the preliminaries in sixth place with a time of 2 minutes 49.42 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Howes placed 18th in the 15-17 girls 50 LC meter freestyle with a time of 28.06 seconds, while Wheddon finished 30th in 28.83 seconds, a personal best. In the 15-17 boys 50 LC meter freestyle, Thomas Cechini finished 14th with a personal best of 24.54 seconds, and Hupman placed 20th with a time of 24.95 seconds.
