KBB And Schools Unite For Earth Day
Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB] is celebrating Earth Day tomorrow [April 22], by partnering with 15 schools island-wide to raise environmental awareness through student-led initiatives and a Grub Day fundraiser.
A spokesperson said, “Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB] is proud to celebrate Earth Day April 22, 2025 by engaging schools across the island in a movement to raise environmental awareness and inspire action. With 15 schools participating in KBB’s Earth Day Grub Day fundraiser, the initiative encourages students to wear casual clothes in earth tone colours for a small donation, with all proceeds supporting KBB’s education and youth engagement programs.
“This year’s participating schools include: BHS, Dalton E. Tucker Primary, East End Primary, Francis Patton Primary, Harrington Sound Primary, Paget Primary, Sandys Middle School, St. George’s Preparatory, Victor Scott Primary, Warwick Academy, West End Primary, West Pembroke Primary, and Whitney Institute Middle School.
“Each participating school is helping to bring attention to the importance of caring for our island environment, and we thank them in advance for their commitment and support.
“We are especially proud to highlight the outstanding efforts of Principal Todd Fox and the students and staff of Francis Patton School, who took an early lead in celebrating Earth Day through their Green Future Initiative Week held the week of March 10th.
“Throughout the week, students and staff took part in a series of activities that promoted sustainability and environmental consciousness. These included:
- Wearing green in exchange for a $2 donation
- Selling green lemonade in reusable cups
- Observing a “Lights Out Day” to reduce energy use
- Hosting a “Walk to School Day” from Shelly Bay Field
- Concluding the week with a full campus cleanup
“The initiative was student-led, with Year 8 Head Leaders proudly deciding to donate all funds raised to support KBB’s mission. Their efforts exemplify the power of student voices in driving change and creating a cleaner, greener, more beautiful Bermuda for all.
“KBB extends sincere thanks to Mr. Fox, his staff, and all the students of Francis Patton Primary for their dedication and innovation. We also thank all participating schools for joining us in making Earth Day 2025 a meaningful and impactful occasion.
