Sienna Mosquera claimed an impressive victory at the Walt Disney Classic on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, held yesterday [April 13] at Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Mosquera carded a one-under-par 71 in the opening round, her first time breaking par, followed by a one-over 73 in the second round. Her combined score secured a three-stroke win over Canadian competitor Jeri Lafeche, who finished in second place.

The tournament featured a strong international field, including top Jamaican junior and Caribbean Junior Amateur champion Mattea Isa, as well as players from nine different countries.

“It felt amazing to [win] the Walt Disney Classic and to record my lowest two-day scores of 71/73, shooting an even par,” Mosquera said.

“It actually felt easier shooting low these two rounds as everything I was intending worked out well.”

She credited her recent focus on mental strength as a key factor in her success.

“I’m learning how to remain patient and relaxed, which is not always easy to do, but it’s something I’m working hard on and I’m getting better with,” she said.

“I also didn’t pay attention to the leaderboard during my play, which just helps me keep the focus on the game.”
