Y4 and Y6 students at Elliot Primary School recently took part in STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics] curriculum in preparation for the school’s new Odyssey Innovation STEM Lab.

A Government spokesperson said, “Students at Elliot Primary School have been involved in experiencing the new curriculum and features set to launch at the Parish School in September 2025. As part of this initiative, the school is introducing the STEM curriculum in preparation for their new Odyssey Innovation STEM Lab. The Y4 and Y6 students were the first to engage in STEM learning.

“The STEM curriculum aims to ignite curiosity and critical thinking by engaging students in real-world engineering challenges.

“Minister of Education Crystal Caesar expressed enthusiasm for the programme after joining students in a hands-on activity.”

Minister Caesar said, “I thoroughly enjoyed participating with the students as they worked collaboratively to plan and design their boats,” the Minister said. “They were tasked with solving a problem and continuously improved their designs to achieve the best possible outcomes.

“The STEM curriculum at the parish primary school provides our children with more opportunities to explore, create, and connect their learning to the world around them.”

The Government spokesperson said, “During their introductory classes, the students were introduced to technology as more than items powered by electricity or objects with moving parts. The Y4 class was challenged to build a craft to support marbles without sinking, and the Y6 class was challenged to build the strongest bridge possible with non-conventional materials.”
