Khano Smith’s Rhode Island Beat Birmingham
Khano Smith’s Rhode Island defeated the Birmingham Legion 1-0 away in the United Soccer League Championship yesterday [May 14].
Maxi Rodriguez scored an early goal before Sam McIllhatton received a second yellow card and was sent off for the home side.
Smith served as the Birmingham Legion assistant coach from 2019 to 2023.
A former Bermuda captain, Smith made history in his first year as a head coach last term, leading Rhode Island to the Eastern Conference final in their inaugural season.
Rhode Island are away to the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday.
