Minister Addresses Camp Registration Issues
Minister Owen Darrell addressed concerns over the 2025 Summer Day Camps registration process.
Minister Darrell said, “I want to begin by apologising. We know that registering for Summer Day Camps this year was frustrating for many families, and I’m genuinely sorry for the confusion and stress it caused.
“A clerical error resulted to a few camp titles being listed incorrectly and though we caught the issue and corrected it quickly, we know it added unnecessary complications. Additionally, some camps filled within minutes, which we understand left many feeling disappointed.
“Despite offering thousands of camp spaces, the demand continues to exceed the capacity provided. Our team is now carefully reviewing applications and removing duplicate entries to make sure all spaces are correctly allocated. Once completed, we’ll begin contacting families on the waitlist in the order they signed up.
“There are still some camps with limited space available. Families may still be able to register for:
- Camp Bermudez
- Camp Chameleon
- The Next Innings: Mini Cupmatch Camp
- Teen Camp
“For over 50 years, the Bermuda Government has supported accessible summer programming for children across the island. While the online system has its challenges, it has also helped us make registration more efficient.
“We remain committed to creating a safe, fun, and memorable summer for every child we can accommodate. Thank you again for your patience and for trusting us with your children’s summer experiences.”

How interesting. The PLP Government is continuing a social programme started by the (now defunct) UBP.
“defunct racist UBP = OBA”
All they did was changed the name. The same party continues on using blk surrogates as poster children hoping and wishing for more votes.
The UBP did not change its name to OBA. The UBP was dissolved.
Are you ignorant of Bermuda’s history or just intent on spreading lies?
The oba is the UBP and that is why your party will continue to lose every election. Stop spreading lies and face the facts UBPER.

Wild that people are taking this article and making it about PLP vs UBP brouhaha.
Meanwhile parents are frustrated and annoyed at the screwup in trying to land summer camp spots for their children. The powers that be failed to launch the registration properly (did anybody test this?). But instead of talking about how this could have been avoided and made better in the future, people here are hurling political rocks.
