Minister Celebrates Paradise’s Ookla Award

Minister Alexa Lightbourne joined Paradise Mobile in celebrating its recognition by Ookla, and she ”commended Paradise Mobile for its commitment to innovation, resilience, and the shared vision of collaborating with stakeholders to advance Bermuda’s offerings and developing its people.”

A Government spokesperson said, “Yesterday [May 15], the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister Alexa Lightbourne joined Paradise Mobile in celebrating their achievement of receiving Ookla’s Fastest Mobile 5G Network award.

“Ookla, recognized for being a leader in connectivity intelligence and insights, presents the award bi-annually to highlight providers with superior network speed, coverage, and overall performance.

“Yesterday’s event highlighted Paradise Mobile’s success in not only its technological progress but also the economic strides made toward a more connected, competitive, and digitally empowered future.

“Minister Lightbourne commended Paradise Mobile for its commitment to innovation, resilience, and the shared vision of collaborating with stakeholders to advance Bermuda’s offerings and developing its people.”

The Minister said, “Paradise Mobile has begun to deliver on its ambitious vision, to disrupt the status quo, challenge legacy providers, and deliver international standard 5G services to the people of Bermuda.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to collaborate with partners like Paradise Mobile to drive down costs and provide equitable access. But, what stands out most is the team behind paradise’s success. The majority of Paradise Mobile’s staff are Bermudian, and that deserves equal celebration. They are investing in our people, building careers, and proving that Bermudian talent belongs at the centre of this industry progress.”

The Government spokesperson said, “Minister Lightbourne also gave a special thank you to Founders Sam Tabara, Kareem Bikhit, and Zlatko Zahirovic for investing in Bermuda and for also creating meaningful career opportunities for Bermudians, who are the fabric of our community.”
