Bacardi Unveils Transformed Headquarters Lobby

Bacardi Limited has announced the completion of the “lobby transformation” at its global headquarters in Hamilton.

A spokesperson said, “Bacardi Limited, the world’s largest privately held international spirits company, is proud to announce the completion of the lobby transformation at its global headquarters in Hamilton, Bermuda. The renovation marks the final phase in a multi-year interior redesign, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation, timeless design, and exceptional experiences.

“The reimagined lobby offers an enhanced arrival experience for guests and employees, featuring an elegant reception area, immersive brand showcases, and a curated display that honors the company’s 163-year legacy. At the heart of the transformation is a bold visual centerpiece: a 40-foot-long by 20-foot-high illuminated installation spotlighting some of the company’s most iconic global brands. Visible through the building’s glass façade, this striking display was intentionally designed to capture attention and reflect the global presence of the company from the moment one approaches the headquarters.

“Complementing this visual impact is a selection of historical artifacts that deepen the storytelling experience—including one-of-a-kind vintage Bacardí bottles from The Bacardi Archives and an original hand-woven Bacardí demijohn from the 1950s. Together, these elements serve as both a gateway and a tribute—where craftsmanship, heritage, and innovative design intersect to create a space that is inviting, legendary, and unmistakably Bacardi.”

“The Bacardi global headquarters in Bermuda has long stood as a symbol of the company’s vision and values,” said Douglas Mello, Managing Director of Bacardi International Limited. “This transformation builds on that legacy — creating a space that reflects who we are today while honoring where it all began. We look forward to welcoming guests from around the world and sharing the Bacardi story — one rooted in family, heritage and innovation.”

The spokesperson said, “The vision for the Bacardi global headquarters was born in 1960, when Bauhaus legend Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was commissioned to design a striking office building to commemorate the company’s 100th anniversary in Cuba. That same year, Bacardi was forced into exile from its homeland, and the original plans were never realized. After relocating to Bermuda in 1965, the company revisited Mies van der Rohe’s modernist vision—adapting his design principles to a new location. The glass-enclosed headquarters officially opened in Hamilton in 1972, becoming a symbol of resilience, innovation, and the next chapter in the Bacardi story.

“The lobby renovation project was led by Planning Factory Bermuda, with architectural support from Botelho Wood Architects and construction by D&J Construction. Local partners played a key role in delivering the project, further reflecting the company’s investment in the Bermuda community. The refreshed space now features elevated material finishes, including premium porcelain, and proudly displays the iconic signature of company founder Don Facundo Bacardí Massó—identical to the one found on Bacardí rum bottles today—gracing both the east and west walls of the lobby.

“As the centerpiece of the headquarters, the transformed lobby is a physical expression of purpose and pride—welcoming, inspiring, and telling the story of a company that remains family-owned for seven generations.”

I guess Barcardi has money to burn, because it is not like the HQ gets thousands of visitors a year and a need to impress. I thought the previous lobby looked fine.

Looks like they went with Spa Resort styling. Nice, but I do miss the bat.
