Adrian Roach will make his professional boxing debut against Brent Coxworthy in a four-round super-welterweight bout at The Victualling Yard in Dockyard on June 28.

Coxworthy [1-3-0] heads into the fight off the first win of his career – a technical knockout victory over fellow Canadian Matt Macintyre at the Lebrun Arena in Bedford last summer.

“He’s a proper journeyman, but I’m training hard for him—I’m not taking him lightly,” Roach told Bernews.

Roach has had a standout amateur career, recently earning Boxer of the Year honours at Crandall University’s Blue & Gold Awards in March.

He also reached the super-welterweight final at the prestigious Brampton Cup in Ontario in February and represented Bermuda at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador.

The June 28 card will also feature Bermudian Saundre “Dash” Simmons [7-0-0], who faces Jamaican Ian Darby (6-2-0) in the main event.

Simmons, an explosive cruiserweight, extended his unbeaten record with another first-round stoppage last month against American Tahlik Taylor in Concord, North Carolina.

He made a statement in his Bermuda debut in February, dispatching American Patrick Pierre in the opening round at The Shed in Dockyard.
