Boxing Fights Cancelled Due To Rain
Saundre “Dash” Simmons and Adrian Roach were left frustrated after their professional boxing bouts were cancelled because of bad weather at the Victualling Yard in Dockyard on Saturday night [June 28].
Simmons [7-0] was scheduled to face Jamaican Ian Darby [6-2] in a six-round light-heavyweight contest; meanwhile, Roach was due to fight Canadian Brent Coxworthy [1-3] in a four-round super-welterweight bout.
With the open-air event’s ring uncovered, organisers were left with no option but to call off the evening for safety reasons.
Three amateur bouts were completed before the heavy rain started.
Sadie Woodstra defeated Bermudian Muryah Swan, Bermudian Jashun Thomas beat Daniel Bacchus, and local fighter Cole Durham was defeated by Michael Roldan.
