Mount Saint Agnes Academy’s Middle School students explored creativity and curiosity during SEEK Week through hands-on workshops in art, science, tech, and island adventures.

A spokesperson said, “What a week for Mount Saint Agnes Academy’s Middle School Students! From June 17 to June 20, our middle school students dove into SEEK Week — Student Exploration, Experience, and Knowledge Week — a special time designed to spark curiosity and inspire learning beyond the classroom. Students selected topics that interested them and fully immersed themselves in hands-on workshops designed to broaden their skills, perspectives, and passions.”

They chose from the following exciting themes:

  • Natural Wonders of Bermuda: Students discovered Bermuda’s natural beauty through hands-on experiences around the island, inspiring artmaking, perfume crafting, and cooking a Bermuda inspired meal using local plants.
  • The Power of Print – Making Your Mark: Students explored various printmaking techniques, culminating in prints on different papers, canvas bags, and even personal T-shirts. The experience included a Lino Printing workshop at Masterworks Museum.
  • 3D Printing and Tricky Pix [Photography] Workshop: This workshop helped students develop proficiency in digital technologies, with a focus on camera techniques and storytelling through hands-on exploration.
  • Curiosity Unleashed: Create, Tinker, Build!: A week-long STEAM adventure, students tackled new challenges each day through experiments and imaginative building projects that pushed their creativity and problem-solving skills. They ended the week with a visit to the Aquarium.
  • Ocean Warriors: How Can We Protect Our Oceans?: Students examined corals at BIOS, engaged with the public at Dolphin Quest, spoke with shark scientist and MSA alumnus Choy Aming ’93, had a presentation from Hannah Horsefield of BUEI and transformed trash into treasure in a conservation-themed STEAM challenge.
  • Make & Take: Students enjoyed crafting personal creations — from flowerpots and jewellery to coasters, placemats, and no-bake desserts — taking pride in every handmade piece.
  • Island Adventures: Students explored their island home through exciting activities like surfing and cliff jumping, uncovering hidden gems and deepening their connection to Bermuda.

Mrs. Anna Faria-Machado, Principal, shared, “Thank you to the teachers, parents, alumni, friends of MSA and the organizations involved who made SEEK Week possible. The week truly captures the spirit of what education at MSA is all about — igniting curiosity, encouraging exploration, and developing the whole child. It’s inspiring to see our students so engaged in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that connect them to each other, their community, and the world around them.”

The spokesperson said, “As SEEK Week came to a close, the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm of our students made it clear: learning doesn’t just happen in textbooks — it happens when students are empowered to explore, create, and lead. MSA is proud to provide these opportunities that inspire lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and confident global citizens.”
