Bermuda Bible Society AGM On August 8
The Bermuda Bible Society will be celebrating a special Annual General Meeting from 6pm to 8pm on August 8th at the Willow Bank Conference Centre.
A spokesperson said, “There is a $25 admission fee, which also includes a speaker, dinner and an opportunity to fellowship with other attendees. Shanni Smith, a young lady with an amazing voice for ministering the gospel in song, will be sharing.
“The Society began its transformative work a century ago, with early pioneers like Canon Peter Evans of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and Major Albert Benjamin, a Salvationist. Today, a dedicated group of individuals continues to uphold the Society’s commitment to disseminating the Word of God.
“Currently led by President Beverly Daniels and supported by board members, Lynn Ball, Lynne Cann, and Konnie Garcia Tucker, they are pleased to have as their guest speaker, a dynamic, committed man of God. Mark Roberts, who is the Chief Administrative Officer at Wycliffe Associates is responsible for overseeing various administrative services to support Bible translation, is the evening’s speaker.
“He holds degrees in Biblical Studies, Counseling, and an MBA. His experience includes ministry work in Pakistan and New Jersey, and eight years at Johnson & Johnson in marketing and supply chain. Mark and his wife Anum share a passion for international ministry and travel. He is deeply committed to the mission of Bible translation.
“The Bermuda Bible Society chose Mark as their speaker because The Wycliffe Bible Society was pivotal in assisting the Bermuda Bible Society in completing a very significant project. Ten Bermudians, male and female, used their voices to record the entire New Testament of the Bible between 2023 and 2024. All participants have strong Bermudian accents which makes for a very enjoyable, delightful listening experience.
“Subsequently the recordings have been transferred to MP3 recorders and are available as an audio Bible for anyone who would like to purchase one. These devices have proven to be very popular with some seniors who suffer with low vision as well as persons of various ages, who just enjoy hearing the Bible being read aloud.

“Willow Bank proved to be a gracious host providing food, spaces to record and housing for the trainers from Wycliffe International when they travelled to Bermuda to conduct training.
“Dr. Melvyn Bassett who passed away recently was the Board Chair at Willow Bank at the time of our recording. Without his prayers, ongoing strong support and ministry of presence, the project would have failed. His legacy and contribution to this project will be honoured during the night’s proceedings.
“We look forward to enjoying an evening with all who choose to join us. Come and engage in fellowship, food, and the hearing of the Word, as you support The Bermuda Bible Society in its mission to share the word of God.
“All are welcome to attend. Respond to Beverly Daniels at 777-5009 or bdaniels105@yahoo.com by July 31st.”
