Bermuda Trophy Golf Event In United Kingdom
Thirty women recently competed for the Bermuda Trophy at the Thorpeness Golf Resort in the United Kingdom.
Kim Swab said, “It was truly a joy to follow young Sienna Mosquera’s record breaking performance in Orkney, Scotland during the recently concluded Island Games. Her success in golf, along with the other medalists, caused the Bermuda flag to featured five additional times to the official ceremonies. Increased awareness is key component for increasing visitor arrivals and I’m sure many meaningful relationships were forged during the games.
“Ironically, on the same weekend the Bermuda flag was also flying high on the Suffolk coast in England, where at the historic Thorpeness Golf Resort, a group of 30 ladies competed for the Bermuda Trophy.”

“Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Resort’s historical bio shares the following: ‘Regarded as one of the best golf courses in Suffolk. Throughout the club’s history, the 6,311-yard par 70 James Braid Course has attracted major amateur and professional events, including The English Seniors Championship and the PGA Super 60’s Tournament, which regularly features former Ryder Cup players and European Tour stars.’
“Christine Langford was for more than a decade part of a team that spearheaded ladies golf groups from the UK to Bermuda to stay at the beautiful Pompano Beach Club Hotel and golf next door at Port Royal Golf Course, home of the PGA Tour Butterfield Bermuda Championship and formerly the PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Sadly, these groups came to a grinding halt during Covid.

“While the Bermuda trips have not continued, the love for Bermuda has not waned; in fact, the relationships fostered over the years in Bermuda are regularly recollected at events in the UK and even Europe whenever the ladies are competing together.
“The ladies now refer to themselves as BOGGS – Bermuda Old Girls Golf Society – and stories about their time spent with Bermuda features prominently.”
Rosemary Lockwood, a frequent Bermuda visitor, said, “It is so wonderful to meet up with friends that we met on our many trips to Bermuda. We travel from all corners of the UK to continue our valued friendships. Hopefully we can all return to Bermuda again.”
