City Issues Update On King Street Roadworks
The City of Hamilton is advising the public of “continued disruption on King Street due to ongoing works and an unexpected infrastructure issue that arose earlier this week.”
A spokesperson said, “The project, which is part of scheduled resurfacing work and sidewalk upgrades, has experienced delays due to unforeseen contractor setbacks. In addition, a newly discovered infrastructure issue at the corner of King and Victoria Streets has resulted in the temporary closure of that junction. City crews are actively working with the contractor to resolve the issue, and it is anticipated that the junction will reopen within the next 48 hours.
“Motorists are advised that Happy Valley Road will be inaccessible between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. During this time, residents of Happy Valley can access the area via Curving Avenue and Deepdale Road. There will be no access from King Street during the closure period. After 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, motorists may access Happy Valley from North King Street as normal. Appropriate local access signage is in place to guide commuters.”
“We fully understand the frustration and inconvenience this has caused to nearby businesses, residents, and commuters,” said a City spokesperson. “We are working to expedite completion and are in direct contact with affected stakeholders to provide updates and support during this time.”
A spokesperson added, “The City is advising all commuters to use Church Street or Front Street when entering or exiting the City, rather than King Street.
“The City extends its sincere apologies for the disruption and thanks the public for its continued patience and cooperation.
