Marco Warren Memorial Boot Unveiled
An eye-catching football boot designed by the late Bermuda national team midfielder Marco Warren has been officially unveiled in his memory.
Warren, who was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Hamilton Parish in May 2023 at age 29, wore the boot – now named the Genesis Memorial Boot – during his final season with PHC Zebras.
The heartfelt initiative is led by Marco’s sister, Chelsea Warren, who owns the clothing store Uptimum Bodied in the Washington Mall.
Marco began working on the design, development, and manufacturing of the boot in 2022, with Chelsea playing a key role in realising the concept.
“I thought it would be something unique – I’d never heard a footballer designing their own boots,” Chelsea told Bernews.
“Marco crafted everything from the details, specifications, laces, and studs. He was involved in the creation of the boot every step of the way.”
Driven by a desire to offer a high-quality boot for players with smaller feet, Marco’s design was deeply personal.
The boots are available in sizes from children’s 2 to adult 11.
“Marco’s mission was to develop a boot for players like him,” Chelsea said.
“He had a kid’s size foot, although he was an adult-sized player, and couldn’t get all the things he wanted from a boot, so he designed his own.”
Beyond footwear, the Genesis Memorial Boot carries a greater purpose: preserving Marco’s legacy, inspiring Bermuda’s youth, and honouring his love for community.
The project is also dedicated to his young son, Vega.
“Losing Marco didn’t mean we lost the mission,” Chelsea said. “Continuing the mission was the perfect thing to do.
“The boot is a love letter to Bermuda. They are designed in the national colours [pink and blue], with a Bermuda flag inside the boot.
“It’s such an honour to finish this story for Marco. He started the story, and I’ve finished the chapter he wasn’t able to write.”
In the spirit of giving back, supporters can sponsor boots at a discounted rate for a young player. For more details, visit Uptimum Bodied in Washington Mall or visit here on the website.
