City Issues Update On King Street Roadworks
The City of Hamilton has issued an update on the ongoing roadworks along King Street, following last week’s advisory.
A spokesperson said, “Work in the area was paused as of yesterday afternoon which will allow for adjusted access in and around the site. At present:
- Access to Happy Valley via Dundonald and King Street North has been restored.
- However, no left turn from Happy Valley onto King Street is permitted at this time.
- Access to King Street via Victoria Street remains closed and will remain so until further notice.
“King Street between Victoria and Church Streets will remain local access only until Wednesday, July 16, when paving work resumes and the area will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
“On Wednesday, July 16, resurfacing will begin at the junction of King Street and Victoria Street [southbound lane] and is expected to take approximately two days. Work will then shift to the northbound lane, also requiring about two days. All work is anticipated to be completed by Wednesday, July 23, weather permitting. During this time, there will be no through access on this section of King Street.
“The City recognizes the inconvenience this project continues to cause for area residents, businesses, and commuters and expresses its sincere apologies for the disruption.”
“We know how challenging this has been for those who live, work, or travel through this area,” said a City spokesperson. “We are working closely with the contractor to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our team is also continuing direct outreach to affected businesses to ensure ongoing communication.”
The spokesperson said, “Members of the public who have questions or require additional information may contact the City’s Operations Manager, Allan Somner, at asomner@cityhall.bm or 292-1234.
“The City thanks all members of the public for their continued patience and understanding during this time.”
