Premier David Burt Receives Alpha Merit Award
Premier David Burt received the Alpha Award of Merit, the highest honour given by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, during their General Convention in Philadelphia.
A PLP spokesperson said, “The Progressive Labour Party congratulates our Party Leader and Premier of Bermuda, Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP, on being presented the Alpha Award of Merit, the highest accolade bestowed by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
“Premier Burt received this distinguished award during the Fraternity’s 119th Anniversary and 98th General Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, July 16. The Alpha Award of Merit is reserved for those who have achieved exceptional success in their chosen fields and exemplify a life of service to humanity, values that reflect the core principles of Alpha Phi Alpha and the Progressive Labour Party.
“In recognising Premier Burt, Alpha Phi Alpha has highlighted his commitment to leadership, innovation, and public service. As Bermuda’s youngest Premier and a leader on the global stage, he continues to advance progressive policies that have strengthened Bermuda’s economy, expanded opportunity, and enhanced social welfare for all Bermudians.
“The Progressive Labour Party extends heartfelt congratulations to Premier Burt on this well-deserved honour, in recognition of his leadership and the values that guide our Party: service, integrity, and justice.”

Who paid for the award winner’s flight and expenses?
“As Bermuda’s youngest Premier and a leader on the global stage, he continues to advance progressive policies that have strengthened Bermuda’s economy, expanded opportunity, and enhanced social welfare for all Bermudians.” And you can take that to a landfill…
Not the public, as this was a personal event. Calm down and take a breath.
Congratulations Premier Burt!

A rather ironic and comedic choice for award recipient based off the stated criteria… not to mention the number of potholes that speak directly against it!
Right, because potholes are the measurements of service to humanity. Bie go!
Ignore the confused admirers (aka haters) Premier Burt. This award is not given lightly. Congratulations to you for receiving it!
Potholes in and of themselves aren’t a measurement of “service to humanity”. You celebrate the award, meanwhile the island’s infrastructure is crumbling around us, our public debt is colossal and our population is declining through a wave of emigration.
But by all means, feel free to remind us all of Burt’s unparalleled service to humanity. The fact the irony is lost on you makes it even funnier for the rest of us.
