Aeziah Divine Races At Thruxton Circuit
Bermudian motorcycle racer Aeziah Divine has reflected on the fifth round of the R&G British Talent Cup at the Thruxton Race Circuit in Hampshire at the weekend.
Riding for the British team Fibre Tec Honda – MLav Racing, the teenager qualified in 22nd place.
He finished 22nd in the first race before improving to sixteenth in the second.
Divine also walked away uninjured after coming off his bike during the final round of practice
“I exited Church Corner flat out when a rider I was following sat up right in front of me,” Divine said.
“I braked hard to avoid him and lost the front at around 110 mph [177 kph].
“Thanks to DRC Race Leathers, I walked away without even a scratch after landing hard on my shoulder.
“Big thanks to Dan Goodman for letting me run his spare suit for the rest of the weekend.
“The team worked hard through lunch to get my bike rebuilt for FP2. I got a few laps in but unfortunately had to retire back to the pits with a mechanical.
“I was still trying to find my rhythm on Saturday morning qualifying while working with grip issues.
“Despite this, I improved my times and ended P22 with a 1:25.699.”
Reflecting on race one, Divine said: “I struggled a bit off the line but worked hard and stayed with the group. We had some great battles, and I ended P22.”
He added about race two: “With more confidence and a final tweak to the bike, I pushed forward and fought in the group from P13-P20.
“I climbed up nine places at one point to P13 to lead the second group.
“It was great to lead the group of eight riders all fighting hard and changing positions all race long.
“Less than half a second covered P12-P18 in the drag to the finish where I took two riders on the line to cross in P16, 0.024 seconds from finishing in the points.
“The weekend started tough but ended on a high. Massive shout out to the team who went all in to make sure my bike was on point for the races.
“Having a solid team and great people in the paddock makes a huge difference. I set a new PB time getting into the 1:23s and learned a lot this weekend.”
