2025 Pan Am Juniors Day Two Wrap-Up
Bermuda’s athletes competed on day two of the Pan American Junior Games in Asunción, Paraguay, yesterday [August 11].
In the swimming preliminaries, Marleigh Howes competed in the women’s 200 metres freestyle, finishing eighth in heat three in 2min 13.51sec. Her performance placed her 24th overall.
Elijah Daley was in action in the men’s 100 butterfly, finishing seventh in heat four in 56.65, placing 20th overall.
Meanwhile, Jack Harvey produced a strong performance in the men’s 200 backstroke, coming second in heat two in 2:03.84. He was the fourth fastest qualifier in the A final, where he finished fourth in 2:02.27.
In archery, Jaydon Roberts advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s individual recurve competition, defeating Bruno Nunzi, of Argentina, 6-0 in the round of 16 before beating Nanuq Herzog, of Bolivia, in the quarter-finals 6-5.
Roberts lost 6-0 to Andres Hernandez, of Columbia, in the semi-finals and will now play in the bronze medal match today.
Meanwhile, Robin Selley reached the quarter-finals of the women’s individual recurve. Selley lost to Sophia Baptista, of Brazil, 7-3.
In the mixed recurve team event. Roberts and Selley defeated Guatemala with a score of 5-3, advancing to the quarter-finals, where they beat Brazil 5-3 victory.
Their run was halted in the semi-finals, where they were defeated 5-3 by the United States.
They will now compete in the bronze medal match.
