Tyler Christopher Eyes Television Bout

Boxer Tyler Christopher believes the next natural step in his rising professional career is a televised bout in England – a stage he says he was born for.

Now based in Birmingham, England, the 28-year-old has steadily built his reputation since relocating from Bermuda nearly six years ago.

His momentum surged in March after delivering a career-best performance by stopping the durable journeyman Josh Grannum in Cannock, Staffordshire.

Speaking to Fight City News recently, Christopher, who boasts an unblemished record of ten wins, made his ambitions clear.

“I feel I was born to be televised,” Christopher said. “I’m on social media all over the place, I just need that one lucky break and I know they are going to love me on TV.”

Reflecting on his dominant victory over Grannum, who he dropped twice, Christopher admitted he was initially caught off guard by his success.

“When I dropped him the first time, I was surprised,” Christopher said.

“He’s a tricky journeyman and after the first knockdown he was still coming forward. It was only after the second that he went on the back foot.”

Christopher trains out of the D&A Boxing School of Excellence in Stirchley and is now focused on television exposure rather than regional titles – a reflection of his international outlook.

“The Midlands and English titles don’t mean that much to me,” the middleweight said.

“That’s not meant to be disrespectful. The Midlands title doesn’t mean as much to me because I’m not from the Midlands, I’m not from England.

“It means more to people born in the Midlands. I don’t have the same desire they do.”
