BPSU Awards Scholarships To 12 Students

The Bermuda Public Services Union [BPSU] presented scholarships to 12 students at their Annual Education Awards Ceremony.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Public Services Union [BPSU] proudly reflects on the success of its 33rd Annual Education Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

“Under the leadership of President Bro. Armell Thomas, General Secretary Bro. Kevin Grant, and Education Committee Chair Bro. Vernon Wears Jr., the event once again underscored the Union’s commitment to investing in the educational aspirations of its members and their families.

“Since the inception of the Education Awards, the BPSU has been awarded over $800,000 in support of academic pursuits. This has been an enduring testament to the Union’s belief in the transformative power of education.

“Each year, the Union presents twelve [12] awards: six [6] local/online awards valued at $1,500 each, and six [6] overseas awards valued at $3,500 each.

“This year’s recipients represent a diverse range of academic disciplines and career ambitions. The BPSU is honoured to congratulate the following awardees:

Local/Online Awards [$1,500]:

  • Cori Bremar – Bermuda College [Business Administration]
  • Dasha Caines – Walden University [Master of Science in Nursing – Executive Leadership]
  • Jamir Hatherley – Bermuda College [Business Administration]
  • A’nai Jjombwe – Bermuda College [Motor Vehicle Technology]
  • Tiara Shine – University of Derby [Postgraduate in Leadership and Management]
  • Uni Simmons – Bermuda College [Psychology]

Overseas Awards [$3,500]:

  • Che’-Chulae’ Dowling – Jackson State University [Dentistry]
  • Micah Hollis – Nottingham Trent University [Architectural Technology]
  • Jordan Mallory – Southampton Solent University [Software Engineering]
  • Gianna Lupparelli Nash – Brock University [Dramatic Arts & Psychology]
  • Ande Simons – Humber College [Sport Management]
  • Veronica Swan-DeGraff – St. George’s University [Doctor of Medicine]“
