Sandcastle Competition Set For Aug 31st
The Bermuda Sandcastle Competition returns to Horseshoe Bay on Sunday, August 31, with local and visiting builders competing for prizes and free workshops available for all participants.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Sandcastle Competition returns on Sunday 31st August 2025!
“This is the big family event you have been waiting all summer for on Horseshoe Bay beach. The organizers of the competition are excited to hold this event as a perfect end to summer with some extra surprises.
“This year we are excited to welcome three overseas, semi professional, sandcastle builders to our island.
“Welcoming back Pete Faverio, for his fourth year joining us from Delaware. He started his sandcastle journey 9 years ago and hasn’t looked back since. He says building sandcastles is his happy place and we are so happy he is back to share that joy with us. You can follow Pete’s sandcastles on FB or Instagram @petethesandman.
“Our second visiting artist returning to our competition, welcome Tony Cusicanqui from Long Island New York. Tony has been making Sandcastles on Tobay Beach since 2020 and is super excited to soon be building on our pink sand beaches again, last year he was an unstoppable force building every day he could around the island. You can find his sandcastles on Instagram @longislandsandman.
“Our third visitor and first time participant is Darrell O’Connor coming to us from Dewey Beach in Delaware. He’s known for his amazing castles and is looking to give Pete the sandman a run for his money. But even more exciting is the fact that he is back to celebrate his wedding anniversary with his wife in the place they honeymooned 40 years ago. Bermuda really is a special place for them.
“Visiting artists are able to participate thanks to our sponsorship with the Hamilton Princess who have generously provided rooms for their stay. And prizes provided by the Horsehoe Bay Live concession.
“While having overseas artists is exciting, the competition is also all about our awesome local talent. We have several repeat teams already signed up and are looking forward to welcoming more new entrants to the creative world of sandcastle art.
