Centennial Bermuda Foundation announced the retirement of Managing Director Allison Towlson and welcomed Karthika Griffith as Operations Officer and Shannon Davis as Programme Coordinator.

A spokesperson said, “Centennial Bermuda Foundation is pleased to welcome two new team members with Managing Director Allison Towlson retiring from the organisation.

“Ms. Karthika Griffith joins Centennial as Operations Officer, responsible for the day-to-day fiscal, governance, compliance, and operational aspects. Her combination of financial expertise and communication skills, along with her strategic thinking, makes her a great fit for the role. Ms Griffith brings more than a decade of experience from Bermuda’s reinsurance sector, including Tokio Millennium Re [now part of RenRe] and Hannover Re. She has also consulted in the non-profit sector. She holds a Master of Science in Accounting and is a U.S. licensed Certified Public Accountant. She also holds a Professional Certificate in Public Relations.”

Ms Griffith says she was inspired to join Centennial because, “the organisation doesn’t just provide funding, it empowers people. By focusing on equity and opportunity, Centennial provides individuals with the confidence and resources to step into their full potential. That’s a lasting investment in the island’s future.”

A spokesperson added, “Ms. Shannon Davis joins as Programme Coordinator, supporting the Director of Philanthropy with a focus on the Scholarship programme and community outreach. Ms Davis holds a Master of Education and brings teaching experience from Dellwood and MSA. She has a special connection to Centennial as a member of the Scholarship Committee and was herself once a recipient of a Centennial scholarship.”

Ms Davis said, “I’m most inspired by the intentional way that Centennial invests in our community to develop equitable access for all. This kind of support is truly life changing particularly where individuals might otherwise be overlooked – everyone deserves access to opportunities and resources that can transform their lives.

“During my time on the Scholarship Committee, I have seen firsthand how Centennial opens doors for students who, due to financial barriers, may never have been able to pursue post-secondary education. I was that young person, and I have seen and experienced how access or lack of access can shape a person’s future.”

Board Chair, Annarita Marion said, “We’re pleased to welcome Karthika and Shannon to the team. Both bring the expertise and passion needed as the organisation continues growing.”

A spokesperson added, “Each of the new roles is part-time and will complete the current team, supported by the Board of Directors and approximately 45 volunteer Review Committee members, to achieve Centennial’s philanthropic objectives and its mission – to create an equitable Bermuda where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
