In a letter posted on his dedicated website — robertkingmp.com — Mr King said, “Trust in Bermuda politics has been broken. Too many people feel let down by the PLP and confidence in government has eroded. Bermudians don’t need more empty pledges — they need leadership that shows up full-time, rebuilds trust and delivers results. The time for change is now.
“I am putting my name forward to be the next Leader of the One Bermuda Alliance because I believe we can once again be the credible, compassionate and competent alternative Bermuda needs. This is not just a political move, but a personal commitment to the future of Bermuda.
“I’ve spent over 30 years working with vulnerable populations, building bipartisan solutions and turning ideas into action. From public safety to community programmes, my focus has always been on results that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Putting People First
“We will begin public town hall meetings across the island, with remote options for those unable to attend. I will host monthly open houses from the Opposition Leader’s Office for direct access to raise concerns and share ideas. I will seek input from members, policy experts, academics and community organisations. What we learn will shape the strategy for the work ahead and will be delivered to caucus by December 15, 2025.
Getting Our Message Heard
“For too long, the OBA’s ideas were lost before they reached the people who needed to hear them. Within my first 100 days, we will launch a refreshed communications strategy led by a dedicated team, ensuring OBA solutions are not just announced but heard, understood and remembered.
Supporting Our Team
“The OBA has nearly doubled its strength in the House, but support around our team has not kept pace. I will bring together past leaders and new voices to build a system of mentoring, development and accountability. By investing in our people, we will ensure every member is effective in the House and ready to govern with confidence.
Securing the Resources to Win
“I will ensure the fundraising and volunteer base are in place to win government. But success depends on people as much as resources. We will establish a Youth Wing and a Women’s Commission, creating opportunities for idea sharing, engagement and inclusion. We must recruit, inspire and prepare the next generation so that the entire OBA team – candidates, staff and volunteers – is campaign-ready the moment the election is called.
“The next election will not be won with empty promises. It will be won by hard work on the doorsteps, in the media and in the hearts of Bermudians.
