20 Arrests Made Over Labour Day Holiday
The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] confirmed there were no major incidents over the Labour Day holiday weekend, though twenty people were arrested for various offences, including impaired driving, knife possession, and dangerous driving.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service wishes to thank the public for their cooperation during the Labour Day Holiday weekend, Friday, August 29, 2025, to Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
“There were no major incidents reported, although, a total of twenty people arrested over the period.
“Of that number, five people were arrested for impaired driving. The highest breathalysed reading was 235 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. That figure is almost three times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
“During the period, three people were arrested for knife possession. Two of those arrests were as a result of persons being stopped and searched under 315F of the Criminal Code Act 1907. The third person was arrested following a report of an incident at a private residence.
“There was one arrest for dangerous driving.
“At approximately 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, Police Officers on mobile patrol, observed motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed along Queen Street in the City of Hamilton.
“Officers pursued the vehicle with their emergency equipment engaged and signalled for the rider to stop. However, the rider disregarded the officers and continued to travel at high speed.
“During the pursuit, the suspect, a 22-year-old male struck a police motorcycle, sending both vehicles to the ground. He was subsequently detained and arrested for dangerous driving and resisting arrest.”
Alexander Rollin, Acting Superintendent – Community Policing Division, said, “I want to commend the wider public for their vigilance and cooperation, which helped ensure that the holiday was largely safe and enjoyable.
“While we are encouraged that the holiday weekend passed without any major incidents, it is troubling that some members of the public continue to carry knives and others choose to drive while under the influence alcohol. These are reckless, dangerous behaviours that place not only the offenders, but also innocent members of the community at risk.
“However, I am confident that working together, we can continue to reduce the risks posed by those who choose to ignore the law and endanger the safety and wellbeing of others. Your actions make a difference.”

Stop and search is a waist of time!! All these unsolved murders around here and these searches have not turned up anything! Its a joke
Murders are committed using illegal weapons and they’re being found left, right and centre with these stop and searches. How many potential murders are being foiled due to these seizures , is it really a WASTE of time ?
