Scott Barnes Reflects On Four Title Wins

Bermudian karting driver Scott Barnes has reflected on his four title victories at the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix – North America’s largest kart street race – last weekend.

Barnes, competing over two days in the Quad Cities – a metropolitan area straddling the Mississippi River between Illinois and Iowa – claimed victory in the King of the Streets final, the Ignite 100 Masters, Ignite 206 Masters and the Open Shifters.

He has won 14 titles at the prestigious race.

“Four more Rocks to add to the collection!” Barnes said. “We should have had five but lost it on the last corner after a great 100cc senior race but that’s racing.

“Four is a historic weekend at the Rock, doing it over three different classes – Shifter, 206 and 100cc.

“It wasn’t all good, Saturday was a rough day; didn’t go the way we wanted. I started to doubt myself at a point.

“But thankfully I have a support system to listen to and didn’t give up. Knowing Saturday at Rock Island is not what counts, it’s all about finals on Sunday!”

Barnes, who races for Maranello Karts USA, is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand, and All Rise Limited.
