The Bermuda Police Service is advising that Roadside Sobriety Checkpoints will be in effect from tonight, October 31, through November 11, alongside heightened policing efforts for public safety during the World Rugby Classic.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] wishes to advise the public that Roadside Sobriety Checkpoints will be in effect starting tonight, Friday, October 31, 2025, through to and including, Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Superintendent Arthur Glasford, the Officer In Charge of the Tactical Operations Division, stated: “These checkpoints will be conducted as part of ongoing high visibility policing efforts, which include stop and search as well as other crime detection and crime prevention operations”

Superintendent Glasford also advised: “The much anticipated World Rugby Classic is set to take place at the North Field of the Dame Flora Duffy, National Sports Center, Pembroke, from Saturday, November 1, to Friday, November 7, 2025. Parking will not be allowed on the sidewalks, or in the bus laybys, along the adjacent Frog Lane. Any vehicles parked, partially or otherwise in these areas, will be ticketed”.

“Persons attending the games are encouraged to make use of parking facilities that will be made available at the Arboretum and other locations nearby.”

Mr. Glasford explained: “Our intention is not to make things difficult for patrons attending the event over the next few days. Rather, it is to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward situations occurring”.

A police spokesperson added, “We wish to thank the public in advance, for their understanding and cooperation in relation to these matters, as we work together to make Bermuda safer.”
