BUEI Announces Youth Climate Summit Partners
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] announced the Non-Governmental Organisation [NGO] partners joining them for this year’s fifth annual ‘Youth Climate Summit’ [YCS].
A spokesperson said, “The Summit is a multi-faceted programme designed to empower Bermuda’s youth to advocate for their future by providing opportunities to connect with subject matter experts and international youth activists working in the climate sector. These experiences are designed to both educate and motivate young people, encouraging them to play an active role in driving sustainability and contributing to long-lasting change, both locally and globally.
“During the week-long Summit from November 17th – 23rd, students between the ages of 13 – 22 will engage with representatives from local environmental organisations and supporting partners during the Environmental Showcase held at BUEI on Thursday, November 20th. This carefully curated event is designed to maximise learning experiences, raise awareness for local environmental initiatives, and provide access to a robust network of local and global organisations connected to climate action, higher learning, and future career opportunities in a variety skilled trades and professional roles related to the environment and climate.
“The returning NGO partners for this year’s YCS Environmental Showcase include the Bermuda Audubon Society, Bermuda Is Love, Bermuda National Trust, Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme [BOPP], Bermuda Zoological Society [BZS], Beyond Plastic Bermuda [BPB], Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences [BIOS] and Arizona State University, Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Bermuda, Greenrock, Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB], Nonsuch Expeditions, and Waterstart. New to this year’s showcase is the Sargasso Sea Commission.
“After the week of Summit activities each November, students have the opportunity to remain engaged with YCS and participate in the year-long programme. This highly impactful programme rolls throughout a twelve-month period and provides young people with experiential learning, skills development, and youth-led action projects, thus empowering them to find their voice and use it to advocate for their future.”

I would be more impressed if just one attendee from those organizations could correctly define climate change. Just one.
And one of my favorite nebulous words – robust – is used! “a robust network of local and global organisations connected to climate action,”
What again is “climate action?” Turning off a light? Walking? Riding on a Chinese electric bus?
