The City of Hamilton will host Fresh Air Films: Christmas Edition on Front Street on December 6, featuring two holiday movies and festive activities.

A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton is turning Front Street into an open-air cinema for one festive night only! On Saturday, December 6th, the City will host Fresh Air Films: Christmas Edition at the Flag Pole, where families and friends can enjoy two classic Christmas movies under the stars, right in the heart of Hamilton.

“This special edition of the series begins at 6:30 PM with The Muppet Christmas Carol, shown in celebration of the Bermuda National Gallery’s exhibit, “The Art of Michael K. Frith: From Pencil to Puppet.” Frith, a Bermudian artist and visionary, played a central role in the creation of the Muppets, making this screening a meaningful tribute to his creative legacy. Mr. Frith himself will be in attendance to share a few opening remarks at 6:25 PM, giving audiences a rare opportunity to meet the man behind the Muppets before the film begins.

“At 8:30 PM, the evening continues with The Santa Clause, the charming holiday classic where an ordinary man unexpectedly steps into Santa’s boots.

“Admission is free with a $25 receipt from any City of Hamilton business dated between November 3 and December 6, 2025. Attendees can write their name and telephone number on the back of their receipt to enter for a chance to win a Ultimea Nova C40 Smart Projector. One winner will be drawn for each film. Those wishing to enter both draws should present two qualifying receipts.”

“We can’t wait to turn Front Street into a twinkling, open-air Christmas theatre,” said Lorna Hayward, Senior Events Coordinator for the City of Hamilton. “There’s something special about watching holiday movies under the stars with your favourite people. Bring your blankets, grab a hot drink, and settle in. It’s going to be a beautiful night in the City.”

The spokesperson said, “Gates open at 6:00 PM. While some seating will be provided, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. Food and hot beverages will be available for purchase, and the City encourages moviegoers to enjoy holiday shopping or dinner at City businesses beforehand.

“The night will also include two Kahoot trivia games before the screenings: a Muppet Characters Quiz for children ages 5–12 and a Christmas Movie Quiz for all ages, each with its own fabulous prize.”

“Events like these aren’t just about entertainment; they’re about supporting Hamilton,” Ms. Hayward added. “We host them to help drive business to our restaurants, shops, and vendors and to create shared experiences in our City’s public spaces. We encourage retailers and eateries to take advantage of the atmosphere and consider extending hours or offering specials to welcome the increased foot traffic.”

Eve Godet Thomas, Director of Exhibitions at BNG said, “Whilst we all know and love the Muppets, what not everyone knows is that many of these characters were designed by a Bermudian – Michael K. Frith. The Art of Michael K. Frith: From Pencil to Puppet, currently on display at Bermuda National Gallery, presents over 350 of his original artworks among which are designs for several Muppet movies, including The Muppet Christmas Carol. Pop in before or after the movie screening to see how these characters began, and you’ll get to meet several of the original puppets too. We’re thrilled that the City has selected a Muppets title this year, as it creates a meaningful connection to the exhibition and helps share Michael’s extraordinary contribution with an even wider audience.”
