Scott Barnes said he is aiming for a top-five finish at the Skusa SuperNationals – North America’s most elite karting event – at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend.

The 41-year-old, who claimed podium finishes in 2021 and 2022, will compete in a 47-kart field, including eight different nationalities, in the Shifter Masters class.

Two heat races will be held tomorrow [November 14] and one on Saturday, with the final being held on Sunday.

“I’ve had good practice session on Wednesday, which allowed me to knock some rust off,” Barnes told Bernews. “I hadn’t sat in a kart in over two months.

“The top 15 in my class are very competitive and can make the podium. We’ll have our work cut out for us.

“Hopefully, I can get a top five and get back on the podium.

“I’ll need to stay clean, aggressive and smart. I’ll need a little luck, too.”

Barnes, who races for a Maranello Kart USA, is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand, Simpsons Motorsports, and All Rise Limited.
