Men’s Squash Team Qualify For CAC Games

The Bermuda men’s squash team achieved their objective at the Caribbean Area Squash Association Senior Championships in Guyana by qualifying for the Central American and Caribbean Games.

They were defeated 10-7 by Guyana in the Bracket One semi-final.

Heading into the semis, Bermuda knew they had already secured their spot at the CAC Games, which will be held in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, next year.

With Barbados and Guyana already qualified, Bermuda needed to finish in the top four

Bermuda went 3-1 up against Guyana after Taylor Carrick defeated Sam Ince-Carvahal 11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5.

However, Guyana levelled the score as Jason-Ray Khalil defeated Anaya Smith 11-7, 6-11, 11-7, 11-2.

Guyana took a 7-5 lead after Daniel Ince defeated Micah Franklin 11-8, 11-2, 9-11, 11-7.

The host side clinched the tie after Shomari Wiltshire defeated Noah Browne in a five-set thriller 7-11, 11-9, 2-11, 12-10, 11-1, extending the Guyana lead to 10-7.

With the defeat, Bermuda will now play for third and fourth place.
