“We deeply regret any distress or inconvenience caused to our fans and attendees,” Paget Community Football Club said.
A spokesperson said, “During our recent match an unfortunate and unforeseen incident disrupted what was meant to be an enjoyable and competitive game. We want to make it clear that the individuals who entered the field and carried out the unprovoked attack on one of our players were in no way associated with our team. As a result, the game had to be canceled in the interest of everyone’s safety.
“We deeply regret any distress or inconvenience caused to our fans and attendees. Your safety and enjoyment are always our top priorities. We are ensuring that appropriate measures are taken and that such an incident does not occur again.
“To our supporters, sponsors and the broader community, thank you for your concern, your patience, and your continued trust in our club. We remain committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and competitive atmosphere both on and off the field.
