Video Game Design Challenge On Nov 21-22

Bermuda Island Games announced that the 4th Annual Video Game Design Challenge will take place on November 21st and 22nd, 2025 at the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation [BEDC].

A spokesperson said, “The 2025 edition is made possible through the generous support of major sponsor, the Economic Development Department [EDD], which sits in the Ministry of Economy & Labour, alongside partners Barritts and BEDC.

“This 2-day event brings together students, hobbyists, and aspiring game developers from across Bermuda to learn, design, and create their own video games in a single weekend. Each year, participants are presented with a secret theme revealed at the start of the event, challenging teams to design innovative and creative games that align with it.”

This year’s tagline, “Create Your Own Game in a Weekend!”, highlights the event’s focus on creativity, teamwork, and practical learning using Artificial Intelligence.

Founder Adrian Lodge shared, “The goal of the Challenge is to inspire Bermuda’s youth to explore the world of game design and technology. We want to show that games are not just for entertainment—they’re also a powerful way to learn coding, design, and storytelling skills that can lead to real careers.”

Jason Hayward, Minister of Economy and Labour said, “This is an important platform for fostering e-entrepreneurship and technological innovation, and is exactly the type of initiative the Government is proud to support: an initiative where technology and entrepreneurship meet to inspire the next generation of innovators.”

The spokesperson said, “As we celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, BEDC is proud to support this event that highlights that game creators are entrepreneurs too, turning imagination, storytelling, and technology into innovative experiences that can inspire and impact the world.

“Registration is now open and is set at $30 per person, with food included. Space is limited, so early sign-ups are encouraged. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced designer, the Video Game Design Challenge is your chance to bring your ideas to life, meet other creators, and be part of Bermuda’s growing tech and gaming community.”
