Young Sailors Impress In Florida Regatta
Bermuda’s young sailors delivered strong performances at the TUUCI Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta on Biscayne Bay, Florida.
In the 225-boat Optimist fleet, Thomas McBain led the island’s contingent, climbing from 73rd heading into the final session to finish 37th overall.
He closed strongly with back-to-back fourth-place finishes to end on 113 net points.
Rex Henagulph also secured a top-100 finish, taking 72nd with 171 points after a ninth-place result in the penultimate race.
He was followed by Miguel Leite in 107th and Aaron Riker in 116th, with Leite notching an eighteenth place earlier in the series.
Calypso Coulter finished 124th, highlighted by a tenth-place result in race seven, while Ishmael Dill placed 135th after a fifteenth in the final race.
Further down the standings, Benjamin De Couto finished 155th, Alfie Jansma 173rd, James De Couto 191st, Leo De Couto 195th, Hudson Pitcher 214th and Ethan Adelsberg 222nd.
In the Green Fleet, Thatcher Coulter completed his ten-race series in 76th, recording a personal best of 33rd in the opening race.
