Tyler Christopher earned a convincing points win over Jensen Irving on the “Jingle Brawls” bill at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport, England, today [December 7].
The southpaw improved his professional record to 11 straight wins after dominating the four-round super-welterweight bout, with the referee awarding a 40-37 verdict in favour of the Bermudian.
Christopher cut Irving [5-33-2] in the second round and bloodied his nose in the third with a series of accurate jabs.
Although Christopher said he was satisfied with his performance, he was unsettled at being asked by Irving and his opponent’s coach to ease off.

“It’s hard to gear up against guys who don’t come to fight, especially when you’re being told to go easy,” Christopher told Bernews.
“It’s hard to fight that way. I couldn’t do what I wanted to do.
“This is the sport. This is what happens in professional boxing.
“Hopefully, I can fight someone who is ready to throw back in my next fight.
“He was in survival mode. I had the skill and he had no power.”

Christopher said he hopes to move into bigger, more lucrative fights next year as he reaches a crossroads in his career.
He added that he is ready to face opponents with winning records rather than journeymen.
“Next year is going to be a good year for me,” he said.
“Hopefully, I can get on TV and fight some bigger names – so fifty-fifty fights.
“I’ve been sitting on the shelf for a long time, waiting for my turn.”
Christopher is sponsored by Woi, Flower Wall Bermuda, Flash Eye and Mellow’s Catering.
