FC Bascome were crowned Under-18 Charles Marshall champions after defeating Warwick Football Academy 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra time at the Somerset Cricket Club.

The final brought together two of Bermuda’s leading youth development programmes and required 120 minutes to determine a winner after neither side could be separated in regulation time.

The opening half ended scoreless, with both teams finding limited space to create clear opportunities. Warwick Football Academy maintained a compact defensive shape that restricted FC Bascome’s attacking play, and several chances at both ends failed to break the deadlock before the interval.

FC Bascome opened the scoring in the 55th minute when Mosais Mills converted a free-kick from approximately 25 yards. Mills struck a curling effort over the defensive wall and into the top right corner, beyond the reach of the Warwick goalkeeper.

Warwick Football Academy equalised in the 66th minute through an own goal, restoring parity and shifting momentum in the match. FC Bascome responded two minutes later, with Zachary McGuire scoring in the 68th minute to put his side back in front.

Warwick Football Academy levelled the match again in the 84th minute when James Cooper found the net, sending the final into extra time. Neither team was able to score during the additional 30 minutes, leading to a penalty shootout.

FC Bascome prevailed 5-4 in the shootout to secure the Charles Marshall trophy, with the result marking a notable achievement for the club’s Under-18 programme.
